Creating Space & Small Area Games

This program is designed to enhance your skills to create time and space on the ice. The program will focus on skills and tactics, that will create you more time in the defensive zone and neutral zone and make you a bigger threat on the offensive zone. Program will focus on puck retrievals and deception, zone entries, separation from the wall, creating space and buying space, puck protection, net presence and passing skills and techniques.

The program will consist of drills that are focused on advanced skating techniques that are required to gain leverage on all three zones, as well as puck skills, passing skills and shooting. Players are challenged and pushed in game-like drills that all relate to game concepts with focus on the fine details of the skills. Drills focused on individual tactics as well as different types of small area games will be used to enforce good habits to create better vision, which will lead to improved hockey IQ.

  • Skill Level Requirements: This program is restricted to players that are playing competitive hockey during the 2021-22 season.

MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION

EQUIPMENT

All of our hockey programs require full equipment to be provided by the parent/guardian. No child shall participate without: Hockey skates, CSA- approved helmet (with cage), neck guard, shoulder pads, elbow pads, hockey pants, jock or jill, shin pads, hockey gloves and a hockey stick. Mouth guards are optional.
