Welcome back to the Sensplex facilities

Your health and safety is our first priority going forward. Since the day we closed our doors, we have worked with top Ottawa public health officials as well as Hockey Eastern Ontario and the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association in order to ensure that we all can return to play safely.

Everyone entering the Sensplex must fill out this form every day, on the day, of entrance.

What To Expect

We want to provide the safest facility environment possible while also providing the best experience within the building and on the playing surfaces. Here’s how we’re doing it:

Reduced Amenities

We want to keep you safe while making it easy to enjoy the sport you love. For your health & safety, we have altered our facility amenities until further notice.

Participant Protocols

ENTERING THE FACILITY
  • Any participant, coach, or spectator may NOT enter a Sensplex facility if:
    • They are displaying any COVID-19 symptoms
    • They are returning from another region where the activity is not yet permitted, within the last 14 days. (this includes “regional” restrictions)
    • They are returning from another country.
    • OR, if a household member meets the criteria above
  • Every participant must wear a mask until they are leaving their staging area, to go on to the ice.
  • Everyone will be screened upon entry (self-assessment or by staff member)
    • If a participant is feeling unwell, they should not attend an activity, and instead, contact your activity organizer to arrange an alternate session.
    • If a participant has underlying conditions that may cause COVID-19 symptoms to be displayed (ex. seasonal allergies or asthma), they should notify program staff in advance.
  • Physical distancing must be maintained at all times.
    • There will be zero tolerance for violation of physical distancing. Participants who fail to adhere to physical distancing will be removed from the activity immediately.
    • For minors, a parent/guardian must be available at all times who is able to receive a participant at the conclusion of an activity, or if they must leave during an activity.
  • Any player who becomes ill or exhibits possible COVID-19 symptoms during the activity, must:
    • Stop the activity
    • Leave the playing surface
    • Wear a non-medical mask until they are able to leave the facility (which should be as soon as possible)
    • Coaches/instructors will report the incident to facility management
  • Each participant will have a dedicated, sanitized area to prepare for their activity.
    • Spectators will not be permitted into this area unless their participant requires assistance.
  • Participants MUST arrive fully dressed, with the exception of skates, gloves, and helmet.
    • Participants may leave outdoor footwear, and a small bag in their area during the activity.
      • NO FULL-SIZE hockey bags
PRIOR TO THE ACTIVITY
  • Activity leaders will come to preparation area (dressing room or bench), and guide participants on to the ice.
  • Participants (for minors, a parent/guardian) will be required to complete an acknowledgement of facility rules, prior to participation
DURING THE ACTIVITY
  • DO NOT spit
  • DO NOT blow your nose without a tissue or paper towel
  • DO NOT remove any equipment – full equipment (including player gloves) must be worn at all times.
  • DO NOT touch any equipment (ex. Cones) unless instructed to do so by a coach/instructor
  • DO label water bottles clearly with participant’s name, and leave water bottle in designate area.
AFTER THE ACTIVITY
  • At the end of a session, coaches/instructors will indicate the completion of the session to all participants. Participants should then:
    • STOP and maintain their distance from others.
    • Follow direction of coaches on how to exit the playing surface.’
    • While maintaining physical distancing, return to preparation area to collect shoes and small bag if applicable.
  • Participants and spectators should then exit the facility immediately through the dedicated exit.
    • Participants and spectators cannot remain in the building for any reason.
  • It is highly recommended that water bottles and outer gear (pants, jerseys, etc.) be washed and sanitized between uses.
  • Participants must wear a mask after their ice session, while exiting the building.

Spectator Protocols

  • Any participant, coach, spectator, or staff member may  NOT enter a Sensplex facility if:
    • They are displaying any COVID-19 symptoms

  • A mask must be worn inside the Sensplex at all times
  • A maximum of 1 parent/guardian per participant (only parents/guardians who accompany a participant may spectate)
PRIOR TO THE ACTIVITY
  • Spectators will have designated viewing areas for physical distancing
    • After arrival, and potential assistance of a participant, spectators should proceed to the viewing area.
    • This area will be inside the arena, so spectators should dress appropriately.
DURING THE ACTIVITY
  • DO remain in designated viewing areas to watch activity, while maintaining physical distancing at all times.
  • DO keep your mask on AT ALL TIMES in the facility.
AFTER THE ACTIVITY
  • Participants and spectators should exit the facility immediately through the dedicated exit.
    • Participants and spectators cannot remain in the building for any reason.
