Develop into a dominant defender with this program designed specifically for defensemen!

On-ice sessions will focus on the key skills of backwards skating (quick starts, crossunders and speed control), pivots, transitions, lateral mobility, evasive maneuvers, keep-ins, quick-release shooting, first-passes, decision-making, shooting` and passing in-motion, and making plays under pressure.

Instruction will be delivered in both small group and full ice settings. High-repetition station work, small area games and end-zone (defensive and offensive) game-situational drills will all be utilized throughout the program.

Skill Level Requirement:  This program is restricted to players playing competitive hockey during the 2024-25 season.

The Dominant Defender Camp will take place over the course of a week and will feature the following:

  • 50 minutes per day of on-ice skill development. This is an ice-only camp.
  • An ice-only camp focused on developing the skills needed to dominate from the back end next season. Sessions will focus on the key skills of backwards skating (crossunders, quick starts, speed control), lateral mobility, evasive maneuvers, keep-ins and more.
  • This camp is designed for competitive players playing defence this season.

Please note that we will have at least one bilingual instructor with each camp group at the Richcraft Sensplex to accommodate all participants. 

MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION

EQUIPMENT

All of our hockey programs require full equipment to be provided by the parent/guardian. No child shall participate without: Hockey skates, CSA- approved helmet (with cage), neck guard, shoulder pads, elbow pads, jersey, hockey pants, jock or jill, shin pads, hockey socks, hockey gloves and a hockey stick. Mouth guards are optional.
