Tournament Response to COVID-19

The Sensplex facilities have been leaders in developing protocols in recreation facilities in response to COVID-19. When you team attends this event you can rest assured that all steps are being taken to ensure the safest possible environment for hockey. This includes things like screening of everyone entering the building, constant sanitization to ensure clean rooms between teams, and modifications to the building to ensure physical distancing, just to name a few.

Division sizes will dictated by public health regulations at the time of the tournament, and may be smaller than usual in accordance with regulations.

As the tournament approaches, more specific COVID-19 rules and regulations will be shared with your team.

Tiering and Divisions

Divisions will be tiered using one of the following methods:

  • Separate divisions of play (ex. D2 and D3) for the entirety of the tournament (round robin and playoffs). Teams should indicate if they are a D2 or D3 team when they apply (e.g. mostly Tier I players, or mostly Tiers II/III players)
  • One division of play for all teams should that be determined as the best option

Format:

U7: 4-on-4 games, 3 minute warm-up & 2 x 22.5 minute run-time periods. A 90 second shift buzzer will be in use at the 2014 level.

U8 – U11: 3×12 minute stop time periods.

U12 – U15: 2×12, 1×15 minute stop time periods.

Should COVID-19 protocols allow, body checking will be permitted at the Boys U13 levels and above.
